Voting Rules in Virginia
Strict photo ID required. Voters without ID may vote a provisional ballot and return with ID by noon on the Friday after the election.
Any registered voter may request a mail-in absentee ballot.
Early in-person voting available 45 days before Election Day.
Voter registration must be completed by October 12, 2026. Online registration is available.
Same-day registration available during the early voting period, not on Election Day itself.
Polls are open from 6:00 AM – 7:00 PM on Election Day. If you are in line when polls close you are entitled to vote.
