Voting Rules in Tennessee
Strict photo ID required. Voters without ID must cast a provisional ballot and return with ID.
Absentee voting requires an approved excuse.
Early in-person voting available 20 days before Election Day through the Thursday before.
Voter registration must be completed by October 4, 2026. Online registration is available.
Registration deadline is 30 days before Election Day.
Polls are open from 7:00 AM – 7:00 PM (8:00 PM in some counties) on Election Day. If you are in line when polls close you are entitled to vote.
