Voting Rules in South Carolina
Photo ID required. Accepted forms include SC driver's license, SC ID card, US passport, military ID, and SC voter registration card with photo. Voters without acceptable photo ID may cast a provisional ballot and sign an affidavit.
Absentee voting requires an approved excuse.
Early in-person voting available starting 15 days before Election Day.
Voter registration must be completed by October 4, 2026. Online registration is available.
Registration deadline is 30 days before Election Day.
Polls are open from 7:00 AM – 7:00 PM on Election Day. If you are in line when polls close you are entitled to vote.
