Voting Rules in Illinois
No photo ID required for established registered voters. First-time voters who registered by mail may need ID.
Any registered voter may vote by mail without an excuse.
Early voting begins 40 days before Election Day in most counties.
Voter registration must be completed by October 6, 2026. Online registration is available.
Grace period registration and same-day registration available through Election Day.
Polls are open from 6:00 AM – 7:00 PM on Election Day. If you are in line when polls close you are entitled to vote.
