Voting Rules in Alabama
Government-issued photo ID required. Voters without ID may cast a provisional ballot and return with ID within days.
Absentee/mail-in voting requires an approved excuse (illness, disability, out of county, etc.).
Alabama does not offer in-person early voting.
Voter registration must be completed by October 19, 2026. Online registration is available.
Voters must register at least 15 days before Election Day.
Polls are open from 7:00 AM – 7:00 PM on Election Day. If you are in line when polls close you are entitled to vote.
